Welcome Back, Coach Karl Wimer!
Dream Big Day Camp is thrilled to welcome back Karl Wimer as the Boys Lacrosse coach this summer! A seasoned lacrosse coach with decades of experience, Karl is passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the field.
Karl's lacrosse journey began in Colorado, where he won a State Championship with Cherry Creek High School, earned All-American honors, and became the inaugural recipient of the Doc Stabler Award, recognizing the state's top scholar-athlete in lacrosse. He went on to play at Yale University, where he was a two-time All-American on the nation's 2nd-ranked team and also lettered in football.
After graduation, Karl spent a year in Manchester, England, coaching and promoting lacrosse, followed by two years in the Czech Republic, where he helped grow the sport and coached the Czech national team in their first World Championship in 1994.
Since then, Karl has coached and played in countries around the world and across the U.S., working with athletes from youth to high school and club levels. He played a pivotal role in launching Denver's CityLax program, which focused on inner-city lacrosse development. His youth club teams consistently rank among the top in their divisions, and he takes pride in helping multi-sport athletes transition successfully into lacrosse.
When he's not on the field, Karl is a highly accomplished executive marketer and award-winning cartoonist. He's also a fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream, The Princess Bride, and carving through knee-deep powder on the slopes. Above all, he's a proud dad to his 21-year-old son, who shares his love for sports and adventure.
